I have always been an interior designer, I have enjoyed doing this type of work. I have been very much sought after, as I am regarded as original, and artistic. Most of my work has been for wealthy people in London, sometimes they have had a place in the country, a small place like a cottage, I have been called in to design these too.
I have been to many cottages in my time, but these cottages were very large, more like a farm, with acres of land, stables, tennis courts, walled gardens, and staff to run it. They were a perfect retreat for the rich.
I was so well known, and also took such a pride in my work that I was left well alone to do what I wanted with the interior design. Interior design, is far more than a quick paint job, it is a creation. I would create a place suitable for my clients to live in. I would get to know them well, I would know what sort of music they liked, how they relaxed, even what their naughty habits were.
I worked hard , but we also had some great times, relaxing, and having fun. I was invited to loads of wild parties. These parties were for the in crowd, which really meant, you had to have a lot of money! I did not have a lot of money, but I still went anyway. The best party I went to was held in a large castle. The castle was in large grounds, miles from the main road. It needed to be far away, as loud music played all week end. We even had a big rock band play a set, they charged a big fee, and everyone felt they had to listen intently.
On one occasion I was in the Cotswold’s, and traveling to a cottage, near the Wallops when I saw a large tin barn, with the words CIDER painted in red on the roof. I thought I would stop for directions. When I went in there was a large woman with a beard sitting on a farmhouse table in the middle of the room. ‘What e want’ she belched out, ‘You want cider?’ she pointed to the old welsh dresser that had bottles of home made cider on the shelves. ‘ Actually no I’ I stammered, I want to know where Blackberry farm is’ She looked at me took a large gulp of cider and fell off the table, exposing her knickers. I felt so ill I ran out to the safety of my car and was not seen any where near there again.
