Even if that gift is just a simple kiss or a hug or a piece of item you can buy for yourself, that gift took effort and time to do so learn to appreciate it.
Do not be swayed by all the negativity around you. You can always choose not to be sad if you want to even if you are surrounded by people telling you to be negative, you can always shut them out and turn your back against them.
When everything around you degrades, try to do some form of meditation to keep yourself calm and avoid conflict. Conflicts can sometimes destroy happiness so try to keep yourself calm and solve the problem with a clear head.
Learn how to laugh at yourself and what is happening around you. Although tactfulness is used with this depending on the situation but by learning to ridicule yourself of the mistake you have made makes you a happy person. You are not taking life seriously as it will be a hindrance to your happiness.
When everything feels like falling apart for you, try to reach out and talk to someone you can trust. There is something relieving about talking your hurt and ill feelings to someone you trust. It alleviates your heavy emotions out of you and makes you feel good again.
Keep your life busy at all times. This will keep your mind from thinking of different thoughts that only discourage you from living your life. The more you go out in the open, the more you open yourself to different possibilities and challenges in your life.
Doing drugs is never a solution to your depression or sadness. There is a big difference between fooling yourself to be happy by doing drugs and actually facing your problems. Stay away from taking drugs to alleviate the pain and try better ways in making yourself happier.
