‘The Mechanic’ Movie Review
CBS Films released a Jason Statham branded, action movie titled “The Mechanic” into theaters. I just watched it,and it was pretty good. It moved at a pretty fast pace as all Statham movies usually do,and showed a lot of good killing action, and more. It stars: Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland, and Christa Campbell.
The film revolved around character Arthur. Arthur is known as a mechanic. He’s a highly trained assassin. He gets hired to murder people who are shady,or have been involved in crooked business dealings. He’s given records and photos of the people he’s sent to kill. He kills them in very creative ways. They are ways that can’t be linked back to him or the people who have hired him.
Everything appears to be going fine for Bishop in his career as he’s one of the best in his business, but things take a turn for the worst when his mentor Harry McKenna (Donald Sutherland) shows up on the kill list. Arthur asks for a meeting with the main boss to get more info, and is told if he doesn’t do it,someone else will because Harry has been accused of tipping people off about their assassination jobs.
Arthur completes the job of killing Harry. Then Harry’s son Steve McKenna (Foster) shows up,and eventually asks Arthur to teach him everything he knows about being a mechanic killer. He does teach him,and they eventually do a couple of jobs together, but the best job is yet to come.
Arthur is eventually made aware that the killing job he did on Harry was actually a huge conspiracy by his boss. From that point on, Arthur is ready to get revenge, and brings Steve along for the mission to get vengeance for Harry’s murder. I won’t give all of the movie away, but lets just say that Steve ends up finding out that Arthur was the one who killed his father Harry.
This fact results in an interesting twist towards the end. It includes lots of guns being shot, dangerous car chases, and large explosions. Also, I love the ending scene because Arthur pulls off quite a really smart stunt. For a movie that’s filled with such ugly altercations,it’s beautifully played out.
I think Jason Statham pulled off a really great job as usual playing the very cool, calm, and collective character who kicks everybody’s butt. The flick never had a dull moment in it,and kept moving at pretty good pace. I gave it an much-deserved A.
